Never once has Sissel Tolaas, Norwegian artist, chemist, linguist and researcher, uttered the word “perfume”. For the past twenty-five years, she has been collecting, inventing and breathing new life into smells, refusing to be part of the world’s aseptisation. Through her olfactory installations, she invites us to sense reality, its geography and its temporality. Most recently, she has recreated the smell of Pompeii, between sensory experience and memory of the past.

Nadine Schütz is a sound architect. She lends a new dimension to urban landscapes thanks to sound installations and work on the acoustic environment. In this way, she highlights the role of sound in the sensory relationship of humans to their surroundings and in raising environmental awareness.
Photographer Anne-Marie Filaire explores the transformations of the landscape. Since 2019, she has been documenting the sites accommodating the excavated soils from construction sites in the Grand Paris project, revealing the plastic and political dimensions of this “in-between” state of the landscape. Her work is currently be exhibited at the architecture and landscape biennale (BAP) in Versailles and the Hambourg Triennial of Photography.
In the current climate of instability, new ways of thinking and acting are being considered. Among them are two attitudes of care for the living and the non-living. The planning of cities and territories is the privileged field of application of these concepts, symbols of a profound reconfiguration of our relationship to the world.
