The City-District of Copacabana: from the modern to the contemporary
The contrast with the neo-cybernetic model of smart cities (a vision of urban planning based on control and security that has many troubling facets) may explain why many observers of urban realities are riveted as they examine the spontaneous urban forms typical of the cities of the South. Copacabana is an exemplary microcosm of this dimension that is such an integral part of Rio de Janeiro.
